Page 1 of 2 Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation said the UAE Federation is following up on the results of the World Endurance Championships held in Dubai, particularly that of Shaikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was stripped of the gold medal just before prize distribution ceremony. The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation was also in touch with the Federation Equestre Internationale [FEI] and the Organising Committee of the 10th World Endurance Championship over the final result.
In a press release, Dr. Shaikh Sultan said that the UAE Federation was in talks with the FEI, and the Organising Committee of the Championship, to clarify the matter from all aspects in order to maintain the achievements made by the UAE and work towards strengthening them.
"The world equestrian community has showered praises on the Championship and accolades have come from the FEI too, the only equestrian body which has the authority in the world to approve, amend and acknowledge equestrian events throughout the world," he said.
On Monday, the FEI reinstated Shaikh Hazza as the winner of the World Endurance Championship and said the official results, as signed off by the President of the Ground Jury and published on the FEI website remain unchanged. Speaking to Gulf News yesterday, Ian Williams, who was the head of the Ground Jury for last Thursday's World Endurance Championship, and who is also the Head of Endurance at the FEI, said he expected the organising committee to reply to the FEI very soon.
