"The inquiry into Hachim's alleged doping case will follow the formal FEI procedure and until then, Shaikh Hazza is the winner," he said.
"I am in touch with the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and we are awaiting a reply from the Organising Committee," he said.
'Simultaneously we will also run the parallel procedure to ensure the gold medal is awarded to Shaikh Hazza and this will happen soon," Williams said.
"The entire episode is now in the FEI's hands, and along with the National Federation, all rules and regulations will be applied," he added.
The FEI, on Monday, also formally wrote to the Organising Committee of the World Endurance Championship asking for a detailed explanation as to why, without prior knowledge of the FEI, the winner of the individual competition, Shaikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was not presented with his gold medal during the closing ceremony.
During Saturday's closing ceremony second-placed French rider Barbara Lissarrague was awarded the gold medal instead of Shaikh Hazza. The AFP Arabic service had stated that "the Organising Committee has withdrawn the championship title from Shaikh Hazza for traces of performance-enhancing drugs found in the blood test on his horse (Hachim)."
Shaikh Hazza, however, expressed shock over his 'disqualification' during a press conference in Abu Dhabi on Sunday and said he had not heard any official intimation about anything.
