Tonight's race meet is one of the last of the 2004-05 season. Held at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, this race features the UAE Arabian Derby as well as an extended card of eight races.
Patrick Buckley, racing manager of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club mentioned that as many horses that did not have enough races for them to run in, we have decided to have two extra races tomorrow. "We might have one extra race in the final meeting on April 10," he added.
In the eight-race card for Purebred Arabian races, the feature event of the night is the UAE Arabian Derby with a total prize money of Dh150,000 on offer.
The 2,200-metre race has attracted a small field of six runners with the main battle likely to be fought out between a pair of runners from trainer Mazin Al Kurdi's yard.
Kerbel Lotois and Al Djerby are not only stablemates, but have been sired by Kerbella, both four-year-old colts and both have an ERA rating of 90.
Al Djerby will be ridden by Seamus O'Gormon and the colt's smart win in his last run at Nad Al Sheba will put him in a better frame against his nemesis Kerbel Lotois.
Kerbel Lotois, to be ridden by Daragh O'Donohoe scored two of his three wins over Al Derby at the Nad Al Sheba dirt.
The Satish Seemar-trained Hasna de Faust could find it hard to repeat her feat while another Mazin runner, Prince Ameen will be looking to upset the form book. |
