Big Easy likely to claim Liwa Oasis (Gr 1)   Print  E-mail

Today's running of the Group 1 Liwa Oasis for Purebred Arabians at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club is expected to produce a thrilling finish with five of the 13 runners rated 100 and above.

Led by Satish Seemar's Big Easy, the Dhs 250,000 contest has attracted some of the region's best short-course specialists.

Big Easy, who has been in impressive form this season, looks the one to beat.

The seven-year-old will renew his battle with the Mazin Al Kurdi-trained Mushaagib who will appreciate the drop to 1400m after his fifth place finish to Van Nistelrooy a month ago.

Big Easy and Mushaagib have beaten each other once this season on dirt. But in their previous confrontation on turf Big Easy won with Mushaagib third.

Qatar's top-notch pairing of trainer Alban de Mieulle and jockey David Bouland Dahess, who have won both the National Day Cup and HH The President's Cup, will be looking to add to those successes with Dahees who makes his UAE debut in the race.

Doug Watson's Iska Al Mels and Gillian Duffield's Bengalant are two other notable runners.
Bengalant has been a consistent performer and trainer Duffield will be hoping to add to her Kahayla Classic triumph.

Erwan Charpy's Danidor, fresh from a win at Jebel Ali, also catches the eye.
