Al Juneibi wins A-Rider's championship

UAE's top riders, Ahmed Al
Juneibi, won the A-Riders championship in the three-day Emirates Championship
which concluded here on Friday.
Riding Covers Pride, Al Juneibi
topped a strong list of UAE riders to tally the least faults in three rounds of
competition.The Abu Dhabi Mounted
Police rider had zero faults in his first round, eight fault points in his
second and four in the third to finish with 14.76 which included 2.76 time
penalty points.
"I have been using Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum's horse
Covers Pride for over four weeks now. This is my fourth win on this horse," said
Al Juneibi who will also be representing the UAE at the Athens Olympics later
this year.
"Now I will start preparing for the Abu Dhabi Derby which will
be held later this month," he said.
Later in the Junior Championship
15-year-old Sarah Yousif Al Nowais tasted her biggest success when winning on
Flamme du Loup.
The Grade 10 student from Lycee Louis Massignon school
was joint second with four faults in competition 1.
A flawless round in
the second of her Final Competition rounds made up for her 8 fault points in
round one and she emerged champion with a final tally of 12 fault points.
Sharjah Equestrian Club completed a 1-2 in the B-Riders event with Hamad Al
Kirby on Henreb and Nadia Al Taryam on Coralle 26 finishing in that
order.
Karen Hakobyan of ERC clinched the top place in the C-Riders
championship. Riding Rezah, Karen had just four fault points after three round
to win the title.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, Chairman of
Sharjah Equestrian Club along with Hussein Mohammed Hussein, Secretary general,
UAE EQuestrian and Racing Federation and Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi of Abu Dhabi
Equestrian Club gave away the prizes and trophies.
